NOTS har sendt høringsuttalelse på forslag til forvaltningsplan for Reinheimen nasjonalpark

The consultation deadline for proposals for a new management plan expires today and NOTS has posted its consultation statement.

In the proposal there is a total ban on cycling in Reinheimen National Park. In the adjacent landscaping areas, which are treated by the same management plan, there is no restriction on cycling.

NOTS’s consultation speech points out that a bicycle ban in the national park is not justified well enough.

The proposal refers to the fact that there is already a total ban in the protection regulations for Reinheimen National Park. NOTS believes this is a misinterpretation of the safety regulations. Furthermore, it is claimed that cycling is not compatible with the conservation of the wild reindeer habitats. We refute this with references to pronounce from one of Norway’s largest wild reindeer experts.
